As the title says one of my all time favorite Rolex’s, the Rolex Submariner 1680 dates to 1980 the run of this model was around 10 years. The first models was around 1969 the Rolex Red Submariner 1680 as its known “Red writing Sub” as the submariner printed on the dial is in red, also far more collectible than the mine with Submariner in white writing. But apparently they made less of the white writing Submariner 1680 and this has aged Patina to die for.
This has the 1570 movement in been around a good while that movement no quickset date change, also has the infamous hightop plexi glass which Rolex phased out to much more tougher sapphire crystal not long after in early 1980s. The dial is matt finish with a t25 tritium used on the dial for the hour plots the hands and the pearl on the bezel. Tritium on the dial was used up late 1990s and phased out to what is used in nearly every watch today Luminova
The bracelet is the 93150 which was used for 40 years plus flip lock mechanism with a divers extension to go over the dive suit when diving. One of the best vintage Submariners around for the money also I am sure James bond wore in a film.
