Here is little beauty Omega Speedmaster Apollo-Soyuz Meteorite Ref: 3220.127.116.11.99.001, this particular piece is the standard speedmaster Moonwatch with a meteorite dial. The dial is unique and mesmerizing in colour and this model was to commemorate Apollo-Soyuz Test Project which was to superpowers working together on landing station in orbit. The watch has sapphire crystal with cal 1861 Manual wind chrono movement, Omega speedmaster have done 100’s of editions from Limited to special editions etc…. lost count over the years I think they probably done the most out of all the Swiss brands. But this a great piece for the collection!
As the title says Watch shopping in Chicago a visit to the new Marshall pierce a video by Hodinkee. Unfortunately Years ago I was in Chicago for a good while but was not into watches back then. I would be certainly be watch shopping if I ever go back to Chicago a great city to see the windy city.
This was a piece I had for short while The Breitling Super Avenger M13370 Black steel Titanium very big watch but also very light in weight. The Super Avenger is a large watch measuring 48.4mm with the crown and comes in plenty of various versions stainless steel is probably the most popular version in my opinion. The movement is a Breitling 13 based on a eta valjoux 7750 with a power reserve of 48 hours with chronograph and date function, watch is water resistant to 300M with unidirectional bezel. This model is made of titanium and comes on a Breitling rubber strap and is not that noticeable on weight on the wrist as much as the stainless steel versions on a steel bracelet.
I do love the black steel watches but they do not fare well with minor scuffs and scraps which are not easily polished out, overall a nice watch in black steel it that is the look you require for the money.
The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 42mm Ref: 2201.51.00 a great all round watch for everyday use also a nice divers piece. This model comes in two sizes 42mm and 45.5mm, this the 42mm co axial Orange bezel with movement Cal 2500 water resistant to 600 metres / 2000ft. Omega co-axial movements keep fur-nominal time accuracy in my experience which is always a bonus when purchasing a watch as they not all as accurate as you would expect. The watch has sapphire crystal and is AR coated for minimum light reflection in the sun also a lot of pilots watches are known to have this feature too.
The dial is a matt finish with big batons on each hour marker coated with luminovo except for 12, 9, 6, is in orange to match the bezel, hands are huge and coated with luminovo that glow really well in the dark, date window is at 3 o clock and the helium escape valve is on the left side to release watch pressure when diving. This model comes on the rubber deployment strap with orange stitching, but you can purchase the leather or steel bracelet at point of sale.
They do come with the infamous engraved Omega Sea horse case back and is a nice finishing touch great watch and can purchased pre-owned at a good price all thou this model is discontinued from a round 2012.
As the title says Talking watches with John Goldberger by Hodinkee they have plenty of watch collectors that like to talk about watches which something I can do for England love all watches and there is plenty to choose from all of the top brands. Some watches to die for in the video.
Here is a delightful piece for both ladies and gents Rolex Datejust Oyster Perpetual Ref: 16234 these are probably the most sold Rolex rather than the sports model which everyone thinks are the best sellers. The Datejust is all stainless steel case and bracelet with a 18k white gold fluted bezel on a silver dial with roman numerals and batons underneath, they make this model in three sizes 21mm, 31mm and 36mm this one is a 36mm with a date window at 3 O clock and the unique magnifying cyclops to enhance the date numbers. The Datejust has been produced for 50 years or so definitely tried and tested. The bracelet is the jubilee version more dressy than the oyster with a satin finish on the edge and polished centre D links with 5 links from side to side staggered giving a classy look. A great dress watch for all occasions with so many variate’s to suit everyone tastes always felt there was small on my wrist but my misses loves them!
