As the title suggests, I have long awaited the Rolex GMT Master II Ref 116710BLNR, also known as the "Batman." This timepiece is essentially a standard GMT Master II featuring a ceramic black and blue bezel, along with a blue GMT hand. Recently, it has become one of the must-have watches!
In the past, the second-hand market for this model wasn't very strong. I think many people struggled to justify paying an extra £1,000 for a different color bezel. I admit that I was one of those people. However, things have drastically changed over the last six months. Now, collectors are competing for them at dealerships, with waiting lists for new models stretching up to two years—wow, that’s quite a shock! Second-hand prices have also skyrocketed as people scramble to get their hands on one.
I have to say, I really love the blue and black ceramic bezel of the "Batman," paired with polished center links on the oyster bracelet. This design is similar to the Daytona, Yacht-Master, and Milgauss, and the Maxi dial adds an extra level of appeal to the watch. Most sports models typically feature a satin finish on the oyster bracelet.
I believe Rolex has done an excellent job with the newer models since their launch around 2006, incorporating larger hour hands and larger hour marker plots. This design concept seems to have been influenced by the stunning Rolex Submariner LV, which was released in 2003. Overall, it’s a fantastic watch, especially if you can find one.
