The Phillips Daytona Ultimatum Watch auction concluded on May 12, 2018. As expected, the Daytona watches fetched impressive prices. The Daytona has established itself as a vintage classic that continues to gain value in the vintage watch market. All the sold Daytona watches met or exceeded their estimated prices set by the auction house.
The most expensive piece was a rare white gold 18k Daytona Ref 6265, known as "The Unicorn," featuring a black dial and a unique bark-finished bracelet. This bracelet is quite unusual compared to the standard oyster bracelet typically found on most Daytonas. Additionally, the most notable sale was that of Paul Newman's personal Daytona, which he actually wore. The images below are courtesy of the Phillips auction house.

The "Unicorn" sold for 5,937,500 CHF which about £450,000 Pounds crazy money, not sure I like the bracelet but its rare piece for the true collector and seems no shortage of collectors. The cheapest one I say cheap but it still sold for CHF 106,250 and works out at £79,750 pounds so not really cheap at short of £80,000 pounds on a leather strap, much prefer the bracelet to the leather strap always been a bracelet guy.
