I recently acquired a Breitling Superocean Heritage Chronograph with a 46mm case on a mesh bracelet. This model is the larger version, often considered the smarter-looking counterpart to the Breitling Superocean 44mm. The Heritage range has been in production for 60 years, first launched in 1957 as a professional diver's watch and later embraced by diving enthusiasts. The watch is available in two sizes: 42mm and 46mm. It comes with either a non-chronograph or a chronograph movement. The model discussed here features the chronograph Calibre 13, which is COSC-rated, self-winding, has 25 jewels, a date aperture at the 3 o'clock position, and a power reserve of 42 hours.
The design is a blend of polished steel with some satin finishes. Breitling is known for its shiny watches, which are polished to a high shine; however, this aesthetic may not appeal to everyone.
Recently, they launched the Superocean Heritage II, which is almost identical to this model, except for the hands. I am surprised that Breitling hasn't opted for a ceramic bezel, as many other watch brands have. I believe a ceramic bezel would enhance the watch's appearance and produce a more pleasing sound when rotating the bezel compared to the sound of steel.
I have always preferred the mesh bracelet on Breitling watches; I’m not a fan of leather straps and love the look of bracelets instead. In my opinion, the blue dial version is much more attractive than the black one.
Breitling offers some great watches at competitive prices. This particular model is a mid-range option that works well as both a smart and casual watch. It is also suitable for diving, although not many people actually take them diving!
