Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chrono 600m

Omega Chronograph

As I mentioned in my previous post about the Omega Planet Ocean non-chronograph version (42mm), I thought it would be fitting to follow up with a reference to its "big brother," the 45mm Chronograph with an orange bezel. The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chrono, model number 232.30.46.51.01.002, is significantly larger than the 42mm non-chronograph model. It is made of stainless steel, featuring a brushed finish with subtle polished shoulders, pushers, and a rotating bezel.

This watch houses the Calibre 9300 Co-Axial movement, which is Omega's robust in-house chronograph movement used in many of their chronograph watches. One notable change from the older chronograph models is the configuration of the sub-dials: this one has two slit seconds sub-dials instead of three.

The watch is water-resistant up to 600 meters, just like its predecessor, but it wears quite large on the wrist due to its considerable thickness. There is a date window at 6 o'clock, which complements the orange accents on the pushers, the chronograph hand, and the number 12 on the dial. This model also features a see-through case back, which is enjoyable for those who like to view the movement, even if others consider it unnecessary.

I really like the chronograph version; it’s probably one of my favorite Planet Ocean models overall. It surpasses the older versions and offers the added bonus of being a true diver's tool, similar to Rolex Submariners, while still being big and beautiful.
