Talking Watches with Pras Michel a video by Hodinkee as always they have some of the best collectors in the world with all there cherished timepieces. Some of the worlds finest Patek Philippe & Audemars Piguet content love them all just not the price! Great video one of the best I watched.
As the title says Thirteen Rolex Military Submariners of Grahame Fowler fantastic historic watches by Rolex that every collector would love to own one including myself.
Prices become silly on these in recent times topping £100.000 most collectors bought them when folk did not know what the watch was worth and most likely inherited. I know a chap who bought a few in the 1990,s for around £10.000 each and he has a nice collection too.
The watch was made for the ministry of defence and Rolex back in the 1950,s was the leading Brand on dive watches so no brainer to supply the divers in WW2 with A military Submariner. They wanted the watch to be different to the commercial Submariner hence the Mil Sub, at that time they wanted fixed spring bars and nato strap not steel oyster bracelet. This model was made in small numbers and is a piece that will stamped in the history of the finest Military collectible watch ever made. Enjoy the video!
Tudor Inside The Archives Talking Watches with Hodinkee a nice video, Vintage Tudor has become like vintage Rolex very very desirable in every way. In the past Tudor was the cheaper Rolex, Branded Tudor with Rolex movement, crown, case back, etc… They even did the Submariner range that was identical but says “Tudor” on the dial. Some of the best Tudor’s watches in my opinion highly sort after and collectable the Monte Carlo range very like the Daytona in every way. Every collector should have a Tudor Monte Carlo hopefully one day I will own one. Enjoy the video!
As the title says Rolex Gmt Master II Ref 116710BLNR AKA “Batman” long awaited for me. This piece is basically A standard Gmt Master II with Ceramic black and blue Bezel and a blue Gmt hand and recently become the watch to have! In the past the secondhand market was not that great with this model, as I felt people could not bare the thought of paying the extra £1000 for the different Colour bezel. I after admit I was one of them people 🙁
Now things have changed dramatically in the last 6 months folk are fighting for them in dealers with lists on new ones up to a 2 year waiting wow ouch! and secondhand prices soaring to get hold of one. I got to say do love the blue and black Ceramic bezel “Batman” with polished centre links on a oyster bracelet like Daytona, Yachtmaster, Milgauss, and a Maxi dial to boot which really set the watch. Most sports models adopt satin finish on the oyster bracelet.
I do think Rolex did get all the newer models right since launch around 2006 with big hour hand and big hour marker plots. This concept I think came from the Yachtmaster from memory definitely influenced from the stunning Rolex Submariner LV in 2003 when it was launched. A great looking watch overall if you can find one!
